ELC Tutoring

We now offer tutoring for students in the Intensive English Program at ELC! This is open to any current ELC student in the intensive program. You can get help with coursework (when your professor says it’s OK), personal projects like college application essays, or just general practice. Scroll down for Frequently Asked Questions and the schedule. We’re looking forward to seeing you!

What is ELC tutoring at the SCS Writing Lab?

Tutoring at the Lab is a way to get some extra help with your English skills. Even though this tutoring is at the “Writing Lab,” ELC students can get help with more than writing. You can come for conversation practice, pronunciation help, quick grammar explanations, and more!

Where do I meet my tutor?

All meetings are virtual via Zoom. The Zoom link will be sent when you sign up for a slot.

How much does it cost?

Nothing! This service is free if you are a current ELC student.

How should I prepare before meeting with my tutor?

Please bring all materials you want to work on. The tutor will NOT prepare lesson plans; you MUST bring your own materials that you want help with.

If you bring homework from one of you classes, make sure it is OK with your professor. The tutor always sends professors an email after a session to let them know what you were working on.

How often can I come?

ELC students can meet with the tutor once a week for 20 minutes.

What if I’m late or need to cancel?

Please do your best to be on time–your tutor may cancel the appointment if you are more than 10 minutes late. If you need to cancel, you can email your tutor or delete the meeting from your Georgetown Google Calendar. Please try to cancel as soon as you know you can’t come, so another student can sign up if they want to.

How can I sign up for an appointment?

Click a slot that works for you on the calendar below. Make sure to check your email or Google calendar for the appointment information and Zoom link. We’re looking forward to seeing you!
